What’s this whole “Brave New Rich” stuff all about?
The Brave New Rich are a new breed of entrepreneur that has emerged in recent years.
They are Brave because they have chosen a career and lifestyle path that is unconventional. Despite relentless pressure from friends, family or society, they have decided to pursue something unique – a path that 99 out of 100 people cannot or simply will not follow.
This is New because many of the things that make this lifestyle possible, mainly the Internet, mobile broadband communications, etc. — are new. There have been great entrepreneurs for eons. But entrepreneurs who are 100% digital — i.e. those who making a living without ever leaving the house — are a brand new phenomenon.
They are redefining what it means to be Rich. The Brave New Rich wholly reject the old notions of wealth. To them “Rich” does not mean having $X in the bank by X age. Rich means never having to ride a packed train to work for 2 hours each day. It means never having to put on a suit and sit in meetings with insufferable bosses and other corporate monsters. Of course they want all the goodies too: Maserati convertibles, swimming pools, etc. But they recognize that freedom is the last true gold standard for success.
So where does this site fit in?
Our mission is to become the Forbes or Fortune of the Brave New Rich set. A century ago, nobody was writing about the corporate barons and moguls who were reshaping the future of business and economics. There was no way for the aspiring entrepreneur to learn about these great capitalists, so magazines stepped in to fill the void. Apart from their own blogs, the Brave New Rich don’t have a forum for their success stories, lessons, etc. And the aspiring Brave New Rich are left to figure out the story on their own. Our job is to spread the word — and hopefully help spread the wealth.
I thought magazines were dead. Why do your call yourself a “magazine”?
Print magazines may or may not be dead. But the purest definition of a magazine - a carefully chosen collection of interesting content – will never die. In this sense, a lot of best blogs are essentially magazines, although they would probably rather be eaten alive by termites than describe themselves as such.
So I can’t buy Brave New Rich on the newsstand?
Right. See above.
